myQ is the Chamberlain Group’s very popular (and cheap) answer to smart garage control, but we think it’s pretty dumb. Chamberlain’s myQ provides an app for controlling your garage door thru their cloud service, which means if the internet goes out, so does your smart garage. Also, Chamberlain recently announced that they’re actively preventing access to myQ via third-party apps, cutting off access to myQ through SmartThings, Home Assistant, Hubitat and most other smart home platforms.
We believe that a smart home is an integrated home – where the garage door opener is part of a larger, openly connected collection of devices in your home, controllable locally and/or through a cloud platform or app of your choice – not one you’re forced into.
Contrary to myQ's stance, Konnected supports integration with a multitude of DIY and open-source smart home apps, provides local access and control thru APIs and customizable firmware, and is committed to supporting evolving smart home industry standards including Matter.
